Description

The Volunteer Courthouse Ambassador Program enables members of the community to become actively involved in their judicial branch of government while assisting the public and judicial system by serving as administrative, informational, and educational liaisons between the courts and the community. Volunteer Courthouse Ambassadors are the first persons our visitors meet.  They greet our visitors and provide directions to offices or departments throughout the Circuit.

 

* This is a pilot program at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center. Volunteer Courthouse Ambassadors may be sought for other courthouse locations in the future. Training will be provided.*

*A minimum 2 month commitment is required to enter the program.*

Responsibilities

Ambassadors are in building lobbies and welcome individuals to courthouse buildings.  Respond to visitors requests for information and direct them to the proper window, floor within the building, or other locations within the vicinity.

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to public service, honesty and ethics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, to work with diverse groups of people, and to collaborate with court partner agencies and other community organizations.
  • Multicultural sensitivity and sensitivity to the needs of visitors, court participants and their families, co-workers, volunteers, other agency personnel, and other persons with whom there is contact and interaction.

Physical Demands

Available to talk, stand, and move around.

Working Conditions

Moderate noise; business office setting.

Communication

Second language Fluency a plus.
