This is advanced professional and technical work for the development and implementation of communication and audio visual technologies in the Administrative Office of the Courts, Eleventh Judicial Circuit. Duties include designing, implementing, maintaining and operating communication and audio visual systems. Will apply advanced knowledge of electronics, audio, video, wireless, networking, fiber optics, control and other technologies to support a diverse and growing communication system and all the audio/visual operations within the existing and future facilities where the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida operates. Will exercise independent judgment, use technical expertise, initiative and management skills in the development and implementation of the projects. Supervision is received from a professional and technical supervisor.


  • Design, implement, operate and maintain communications and audio visual systems including but not limited to the First Appearances Recording, Public Address, Videoconferencing, Video Production and Editing, Wireless and Remote Interpretation, Digital Court Recording.
  • Assist in the audio/visual activities such as remote testimonies, videoconferences, training seminars, investiture recordings, and conference and event set up/tear down.
  • Research and recommend equipment to replace or augment current systems.
  • Maintain an awareness of communication technologies and conduct product evaluations as required.
  • Assist the Office of Facilities Management in design and implementation of capital projects.
  • Assist other units within CITeS with projects.
  • Produce documentation (specifications/drawings, etc.) related to existing and future projects.
  • Train staff in audio/visual and communication technologies.
  • Performs related work as required.


Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Broadcast/Communications Engineering and considerable expertise in communications and audio/visual technologies achieved by a combination of education and/or experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Thorough knowledge of audio/video production/transmission and distribution systems.
• Thorough knowledge of a wide variety of communications/audio/video equipment.
• Considerable knowledge of digital technologies applied to communications/audio-visual systems.
• Considerable knowledge of communications/audio/video signal theory and practical systems.
• Knowledge of computer and remote controlled systems.
• Knowledge of networking technologies and applications.
• Knowledge of data communication protocols, equipment and systems.
• Ability to operate a variety of communications/audio/video equipment to produce quality work.
• Ability to quickly learn in a fast changing technical environment in communications.
• Ability to exercise versatility and troubleshooting skills to support the operations.
• Ability to carry out task and projects with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and coworkers.

Physical Demands

Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to transfer up to 50 pounds; some risk of electrical shock. Must be able to travel to various court locations and county offices and work different schedules to facilitate the operations.

Licenses Certifications

Required: Valid Florida Driver’s License Preferred: Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license; Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) certification; Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification; Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) certification; Technical school in Broadcast- A/V- Communications- Telecommunications
